Christmas Pageant 2010: singing 'Do You Hear What I Hear'
If you sing, we have a choir.  If you're young, we have Youth Group.  If you love praying, we pray... and sing, and hear God's word for our lives.  Come and join us!

In the summer of every year, starting on the first Sunday of July through Labor Day, we move our regular morning service to our historic summer sanctuary in Batchellerville, and open the Northville church Sunday evenings at 7pm for a shorter, more casual and contemplative service.  All are welcome.

If you're thinking of visiting... here are some things you might be wondering:

How should I dress?
Our congregation is fairly casual, but mixed.  So, if you are a jeans kind of person, you won' t be alone--and if you like suits and ties, you'll feel at home too.
Do you have a nursery?
We do--and it's pretty active, too!  We currently schedule two people to tend the nursery each Sunday.
And is there a Sunday School?
We're still figuring out how we are going to structure our Sunday School and Youth Group for this upcoming year.  Do you have any thoughts?  Contact Kiri (there's an email link on the home page) and let her know!
Will someone make me stand up and introduce myself?
Well, there's no rule against it, but we have lots of visitors, and we don't usually see it happen!
Can I take communion?
The Presbyterian Church (USA) welcomes all baptized Christians to the table.  It doesn't matter where you were baptized.  Not at all.  And anyway, the Bible doesn't even really say that the disciples had been baptized, when they took part in the original last supper.
How long does the service last?
It might depend a little bit on whether there's communion, a baptism, or some other special event... but generally our service runs a little over an hour.  When we're in Northville, starting September 11, we catch up with one another afterwards (with coffee and cookies!) downstairs in the Fellowship Hall directly under the sanctuary.
How big is the congregation?
In recent years, our average attendance at worship has been about 95... higher in summer, and lower in winter.  Basically, there are enough people that you don't have to listen to yourself sing the hymns, but not so many that no one will stop by to say hello at the end of the service.
What does "Presbyterian" mean?
The word means "elder" in Greek, because that's what the Bible calls those who governed the early church (see 1 Tim. 4:14, among others).  To some, the church is a form of government: we vote on matters, and always gather in groups to make decisions.  To others, it is a history of studying Biblical texts that dates back to the reformation and has always made an effort to bring the best scholarship and education to everything.  To you, it might mean that in Northville, NY, on Reed Street, there is a happy little church with amazing friendships that have been fostered by that same atmosphere of thoughtfulness and mutual respect.  Welcome!
